Here is a short interview we did with Magali, the designer who collaborated with owner Ritu to create the Suneri in-house line. You can stop by to visit Magali on the weekends at Suneri. She also has her own line which you can check out at Suneri as well!
What is the inspiration and concept for the collection?
We wanted to make something practical and easy to wear, yet somewhat avante-garde. Concept-wise, we decided to go for industrial / architectural meets every-day simple. Essentially, the collection is a unique "Suneri" take on easy, wearable pieces for any person who likes something that is "simple with a twist."
What was the inspiration for the curved bodice on the dress?
Well, I really like curves. I wanted to do something unusual and asymmetrical. However, I didn't want to do mess with the hem because I like straight hems. In any case, I felt like the placement of this asymmetrical curve was something that you don't often see done, so it added a uniqueness to the piece.
What types of fabric do you use?
The fabrics were sourced both here in the United States and hand-picked by Ritu in India. All of the fabrics are dyed using an all-natural, non-toxic process, and most of our fabrics are either 100% cotton or linen. AND, the fabrics were dyed to order, specifically for the Suneri collection!
Where was the collection produced?
Everything was produced right here, in Massachusetts! We want to do our very best to support our local economy, and we think that supporting local producers is one excellent way to do that. Additionally, we want our customers to have their peace of mind- by purchasing a Suneri line garment, they can rest assured that they are putting those hard-earned dollars back into their very own community.
