Just In! New Summer Dresses

Some new floaty summer dresses have just arrived today!

A beautiful pale pink dress with exquisite embroidery by Hibis. Take a look at that black mesh detail at the hem! Has a slight gather in the waist at the back, otherwise is a free flowing dress that would be great with a belt or on its own.

A Monroe-inspired flirty white dress by Papillon, featuring pleated detailing along the halter neckline and a full skirt accentuated by an petticoat layer of delicate tulle. Beautiful seaming and just about the perfect dress for any occasion!

Suneri In-House Line

Did you know that Suneri has developed an exclusive in-house line? These items are both designed and made right at Suneri in Davis Square! Look below for a few items from our spring collection.

Purple print "Laura" dress with asymmetrical contrasting bodice. Perfect for those hot summer nights! Also comes in white and black.

Jersey twist top, also comes in nude and black. Shown with A-line blush color "Mara" skirt. A slightly dressed up t-shirt paired with a simple but interesting skirt are a no-fail combination.

Asymmetrical collar neckline "Hana" top in black print. Also comes in pink nude solid and black solid. An elegant shape perfect tucked into a high waisted skirt for a night out or with jeans and sandals for a stroll.

Here is a short interview we did with Magali, the designer who collaborated with owner Ritu to create the Suneri in-house line. You can stop by to visit Magali on the weekends at Suneri. She also has her own line which you can check out at Suneri as well!

What is the inspiration and concept for the collection?
We wanted to make something practical and easy to wear, yet somewhat avante-garde. Concept-wise, we decided to go for industrial / architectural meets every-day simple. Essentially, the collection is a unique "Suneri" take on easy, wearable pieces for any person who likes something that is "simple with a twist."

What was the inspiration for the curved bodice on the dress?
Well, I really like curves. I wanted to do something unusual and asymmetrical. However, I didn't want to do mess with the hem because I like straight hems. In any case, I felt like the placement of this asymmetrical curve was something that you don't often see done, so it added a uniqueness to the piece.

What types of fabric do you use?
The fabrics were sourced both here in the United States and hand-picked by Ritu in India. All of the fabrics are dyed using an all-natural, non-toxic process, and most of our fabrics are either 100% cotton or linen. AND, the fabrics were dyed to order, specifically for the Suneri collection!

Where was the collection produced?
Everything was produced right here, in Massachusetts! We want to do our very best to support our local economy, and we think that supporting local producers is one excellent way to do that. Additionally, we want our customers to have their peace of mind- by purchasing a Suneri line garment, they can rest assured that they are putting those hard-earned dollars back into their very own community.

New In at Suneri: Anne Marie Chagnon Jewelry

More from Anne Marie Chagnon's exquisite jewelry line has arrived this week at Suneri! Take a sneak peak at some of the wonderfully eclectic and whimsical pieces that we are offering in-store. From chunky bracelets to industrial-modern neck pieces, all pieces are created with a mixed-media approach allows the artist to "shape materials instinctively while achieving a playful harmony of form."

Anne Marie Chagnon is a graduate of visual arts from the University of Quebec in Montreal, and started her own company in 1995. She is known for wearable works of art that "playfully push boundaries and showcase familiar materials in an all new way." In 2003, she partnered with Cirque du Soleil to create a special collection for their Dralion show, and has created an exclusive collection for Cirque du Soleil every year since. She favors raw materials in unconventional combinations, including materials such as pewter, wood, resin, gold, and glass.

This dress will be your classic, go-to shift for years to come. It is the perfect dress for just about anything- work, a luncheon, a date, you name it! We love the delicate pleating at the waistline- the dress is simple enough to be paired with bold jewelry and interesting enough to stand on its own. In fact, we think it is so versatile, we suggest you pick it up in both colors! Comes in white and navy.

This simple silk A-line top is a modern take on the current revival of 70s fashion- without looking like you're dressing up in costume. Belted or on its own, wear this swingy number with skinny white jeans and some wedges for an easy, go-to outfit. We especially love the delicate and subtle pleating at the neckline which adds to a beautiful drape. Comes in tomato and eggplant.

This wonderfully sheer and top with asymmetrical ruffles has just the right amount of girly and edgy. Wear with a brightly colored bra for a rocker-girl look, or with a camisole, ankle pants, and blazer for a polished look. Both cute and versatile, this top can immediately be put on heavy rotation in your closet and continue to do so throughout the year! Come fall, layer with a neck muffler, cozy cashmere cardigan, skinny corduroys, and boots of your choice for a casual look, or wear over a slim skirt with a skinny belt on top and cute tights for a look that's perfect for a more dressy occasion.
